2009 Dodge Challenger

2009 Dodge Challenger Concept Sketch That’s right, a new 2009 Dodge Challenger.

Over the last few months we have been getting more and more information on the new Dodge Challenger. The latest rumors are that the new Challenger will acutally be released as the 2008 Dodge Challenger. Let’s look at some of the things we know so far.

The 2009 Dodge Challenger will share a new updated version of the LX platform (the LY platform) with the Dodge Charger, Chrysler 300, and the Magnum. It will have two-doors just like the vintage Dodge Challengers. It will compete with the Ford Mustang, just like it did back in the early 1970’s. They are supposed to be producing 60,000 – 70,000 Challengers a year.

There have been some spy shots of the new 2009 Dodge Challenger concept car. They show that Dodge did there research and the it was heavily designed after the 1970 – 1974 Dodge Challengers. We will have to wait and see if they keep this design, or one similar to it, for the final production car. Also the sketch you see above is an offical sketch of the concept car coming out.

What else do we know about the new Dodge Challenger? The 2009 Dodge Challenger will be based on the LY platform. The new platform will be able to hold a 6 – speed manual transmission, along with the regular automatic transmission. It will be available with a Hemi, although there has been some speculation about which size HEMI that will be put in the 2009 Dodge Challenger. The talk right now is whether or not they will put the new 392 Hemi, which is designed for racing, in the Challenger or if they will have a different sized Hemi, or a tuned down version of the 392. The new Dodge Challenger concept car has made it’s debut at the 2006 Detroit Auto Show!
